The problem with French fries is contained in the name - fried. Anything tastes more delicious when it is deep fried in oil (just ask people who eat bizarre fried stuff at state fairs). With a little bit of effort, you can make baked fries at home, which are just as tasty and much healthier. You don't even need to buy the prepacked fries from the frozen section at the grocery.
Serve with Homemade Tomato Ketchup or Tasty Tuesday Tequila Chili.
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Ingredients
- 6-8 medium potatoes, rinsed
- 1-2T oil
- 1/4t salt
Directions
- Cut each potato into 4-5 slices. Cut each slice into individual fries.
- In a medium size mixing bowl, combine the salt and oil.
- Add the fries to the oil mixture and stir until all fries are coated.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Transfer the fries onto the baking sheet in a single layer, ensuring that all fries are separated.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.
